The Department of Industrial and Mechanical Technology offers baccalaureate degree programs in Mechanical Design Technology, Automotive Technology Management, Packaging Technology, and Industrial Technology.
Graduates of IMT Department are prepared for management-oriented positions which require a strong background in applied technology. Each major requires courses in supporting technologies in addition to the area of concentration.
Minors are offered in Packaging, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and Automotive Technology. The Department co-administers a M.S. in Industrial Technology program that provides advanced study for the technical manager.
For IMT programs, academic and laboratory instruction are integrated to ensure that theoretical concepts are understood and linked to real world applications in modern industry. Laboratory-centered courses are provided for other majors within the School of Technology, and are open, as electives, to students outside the school. Students may elect to pursue the Professional Practice Program (Co-op) in off-campus business and industry.
Through participation in this program, students are classified as industry employees and receives a salary or wage for their work. High percentage of students enrolled in this program are offered full-time employment upon completion of their studies, with the respective participating organizations.
